A closer look from about where Vic was sitting. The reason the
north rim is more vertical and craggy than the south rim is that
because
of the Earth's tilt, the south rim gets less sunshine so it doesn't
dry out as fast as the north rim. This causes more water to
freeze
and thaw on that side, so the rocks break up and fall more, leaving
more gradual slopes and more vegetation. |
